How the Board works
Election and responsibilities
The Board of Directors is the Society’s executive body and receives the plans and reports of its scientific committees. Board members serve voluntarily and receive no payment for their Board role.
How the Board is elected
Voting members elect the Board at a general assembly held under the bylaws. At its first meeting, the Board assigns executive roles among its members. Election results are announced and published in the Society’s reports.
Board responsibilities
- Approve the Society’s annual plan and budget and monitor their implementation.
- Establish standing scientific committees and define each committee’s remit.
- Approve clinical guidelines and scientific publications before they are issued in the Society’s name.
- Represent the Society before government bodies and partners, and sign collaboration agreements.
